Happy Bee-Day

Hey there everyone! I am participating in My Favorite Things Stamps card challenge for December! I agreed to be the guest designer for the sketch challenge so long ago, but am glad that I did because it forced me to be creative, which I have missed lately. This week’s sketch definitely took me out of my comfort zone, but I am so happy with how my card turned out. Without the sketch challenge, I would have never used this type of layout. Doing things that take you out of your comfort zone are a good thing…sometimes, right?!

I worked with a few of My Favorite Things Stamps December release products to create this birthday card. To start, I die cut the two hexagon shapes. It’s really cool to be able to use a shaker die for non-shaker cards too! The size of the hexagon worked perfectly to coordinate with the sketch. Then, I stamped the honeycomb background over the entire panel of the card front. I added a little gradient ink blending as well.

Next, I stamped, colored, and die cut the bees, clouds, and honeycomb. My next step involved ink blending on another piece of white cardstock to fit behind the card front. I added the stamped die cuts and did a little stamping using my stamp positioner to stamp the bee trail on the various layers.

To finish it off, I added the card front using foam adhesive to the under layer. I also heat embossed a sentiment onto black cardstock. I hand cut the pennant shape and added it to the card.

Below, is the sketch. Perhaps you can be inspired to create a card using the layout as well! It looks like if you play along, you could win a $50 voucher to MFT Stamps!
