It’s Day 5 and one day closer to Papertrey Ink’s December release. Are you all excited?! I know I am. The design team is back at it today showcasing projects using With All My Heart, a new stamp set that can be used for all sorts of loving occasions. I made a few samples of Valentine’s Day packaging to hide sweet treats and also a card, which was totally inspired by Betsy’s chalkboard techniques. Let’s see, shall we?!
There’s no better way to package your sweet treats for Valentine’s Day than with a pillow box die. These packages come together very quickly. I made these three in about 25 minutes! The heart tags are from the Will All My Heart stamp collection. I paired them with the Limitless Layers: Hearts. This new heart die collection is amazing. the various decorative edges really make me happy!
On this package, I stamped the polka dot pattern first onto the die cut before I assembled it. I folded the die cut in half, so that the polka dot stamp would fit properly, then flipped it over and stamped the other side. You can use any of the older background stamp sets that are a bit shorter by using this technique. Next, I wrapped some ribbon around the assembled box, then embellished it with a stamped heart matted on a felt heart.
For this package, I stamped my own background using the floral images from With All My Heart. I added the ribbon and the heart embellishment.
To stamp the diagonal stripes on this package, I kept the die cut open because these stamps are long enough to fit across the entire die cut! LOVE! After adding some ribbon, I slapped on that heart embellishment.
Making these?! Don’t forget to add your sweet treats BEFORE you add your ribbon and stuff!
I love chalkboard. Always have and probably always will. The contrast between the white and the black is so striking. I designed a bit of chalkboard into my blog header I love it so much! I’m hoping to add an element of it into my studio soon. Anyway, when I saw Betsy’s recent cards showcasing her techniques on how to make those chalkboard designs come to live on paper, I was amazed and knew I needed to try this. Now, I wasn’t sure I could pull it off like Betsy, but it was worth a try, right?! So here goes…what do you think?!
I used the sentiment stamps in With All My Heart to come up with the design. For fillers, I used a white colored pencil. To get the chalk look, I placed my fingertip on my white ink pad, then dabbed it lightly in various spots. I rubbed each spot in. I think it worked! I also heat embossed the sentiments. For the LOVE sentiment, I also stamped it in white ink with a bit of it off-centered to get the shadow effect.
Some scream it from the mountain top, but I write it out…on chalkboard inspired cards. Tell someone you love them today!
That’s all for today. I hope you get a chance to be creative because it feels so good. Last night, I was in my glory creating even under a bit of pressure. If you need more inspiration, that’s okay…there are so many more to see on the rest of the team’s blogs. Check back tomorrow for a few more projects. I’m excited about those and can’t wait to share with each of you.
