Homemade Embellishments

Good Afternoon! Welcome to Papertrey Ink’s 2012 Stamp-a-Faire! If you are looking for more details about today’s event, please click on the graphic above to visit Nichole Heady’s blog for all of the details.

Hey there! I’m back with a couple of projects to share with you on how to add stitching to die cuts to make your own homemade embellishments.

First up, I have a card with stitching around the border of cardstock die cuts. I used the Ad Sense die because it’s super easy to stitch around with a sewing machine.

Once I layered it with Limitless Layers: Circles, I’ve created a “bow-tie” stitched embellishment! How cool?! I could picture these in so many colors for masculine projects and even wedding themed designs.

On this project, I show how to hand stitch around die cuts to create a homemade embellishment. Using Bloom Builders, I assembled the flower (cut from felt), then stitched around the border. It makes it pop.

I added the homemade stitched flower to a tag, also hand stitched around the edges. However, this flower can be given as a gift, added to materials to make a hair barrett or headband, or even to your favorite cardigan.
