Stitches & Swirls

Are you ready to view another project showcasing a new Papertrey Ink stamp set? Today, the design team has posts to share designs featuring Stitches & Swirls stamp set, which will be available to purchase on November 15. This set hones in on the sewing trend and combines the craze over flowers. I designed a mini album to celebrate friendship stitched together for over 20 years. (It is Mini Album Monday, right?!) I coordinated the Stitches & Swirls stamp set with Button Boutique button stamps and dies.

I’ve been wanting to design a friendship mini album and finally had the perfect opportunity with this stamp set. The stitched floral patterns really create a theme for the album. I like to think that my friendship with Riscee over the past 20 years has been stitched together. Although we may have not been as close during every aspect of our lives, we remain friends ’til the end!

For the album design, I used Papertrey Ink’s coasterboard. I trimmed the 1/2″ off each of the pages. For the front and back covers, I covered them with simply chartreuse felt, added border stitching, then added the decorative trim.

For the front cover, I die cut the mat stack label, stamped Background Basics: Circles (available November 15) in berry sorbet ink, then stamped Background Basics: Text Style in berry sorbet ink on the bottom part of the label die cut. I trimmed some patterned paper, stamped the sentiment and added a pinking shear strip in aqua mist cardstock. The pinking shear edge is a new border die that will be available on November 15. I also die cut the “friends” title using Alpha Block – new dies coming this month! I die cut them from Friends Til the End patterned paper. I adhered them using foam adhesive – here’s a tip – trim your foam adhesive into small squares to fit comfortably behind the letters.

Stamp the Stitches & Swirls pattern on rustic white cardstock, hand cut, then adhere to cover. I die cut buttons from cardstock, stamped the button images, added twine, then adhered them to the graphic.

This is a view of the mini album standing up. You can see all of the page contents.

On all of the pages, I covered it with patterned paper and stamped the border on the side using Background Basics: Circles. On this page, I colored in the circles with Copic markers. I added the photo and layered embellishments. The “8th” is from By the Numbers (new stamp set available November 15). I also added the date using Library Ledger Additions.

This photo of us is so funny! We were a part of a fashion show and so excited to get to display so many clothes. Check out my “daisy” dukes!

This photo of us is from a homecoming dance (our freshman year)! I used one of the Stitches & Swirls stamps to embellish the page. Again, I used the By the Numbers images to create the circle grade year embellishments.

To add some flair, I included a chevron glassine bag. I adorned it with three lotus-styled stitched flowers. Check out what’s inside the bag below.

Another fun photo of Riscee & I our freshman year. Remember personality pictures? Well, this is one of them. Suede was “in” evidently. I was wearing a brown suede button-up shirt and Riscee wore a suede vest. Of course baggy jeans were required. Loved our matching styles! I adhered the photo with fabric tape on a manila shipping tag.

On the back of the glassine bag, I stamped and die cut the button card. I added a stamped Stitches & Swirls embellishment with Button Boutique dies/buttons.

On this page, I used Stitches & Swirls as a bordering embellishment. The flower stamps can be hand-cut and used as button embellishments themselves. I added Button Boutique button dies to finish it off. The double-ended banner is also tucked underneath. On this page, I also used a Copic marker to fill in some of the pattern stamped from Background Basics: Circles.

On this page, I cut out a Polaroid-style embellishment to tuck the photo behind it. I used Stitches & Swirls to embellish the Polaroid-style embellishment. I used a rhinestone to finish it off.

On this page, I die cut an envelope. I stamped the Stitches & Swirls pattern and adorned it with rhinestones. I tucked the photo inside the envelope and added a ribbon to the page.

I stamped Stitches & Swirls directly on the coasterboard. I love the way the black pops off the natural element.

This page features another Button Boutique card. I embellished it with small Stitches & Swirls flowers, embellished with rhinestones.

On the inside of the chevron glassine bag, I included a photo on a manila shipping tag. I adhered the photo using patterned paper strips

I chose to leave the last page empty to allow the book to lay more flat.

Here is the back cover of the mini album. The album is secured using 2 book binding rings. On both the front and back covers, I set eyelets so the rings could turn easily.
